Home to School Transport
The Home to School Transport guidance explains, to parents and carers of children aged 5 to 16 years the arrangements the Council has put in place for home to school transport.
Parents and carers (hereafter parents) of school aged children are responsible for ensuring their children attend school, this responsibility includes making arrangements for them to travel to and from school. Westmorland and Furness Council have a duty under the Education Act to provide home to school transport for children resident in their areas when they meet specific criteria.
Before submitting a home to school application parents are asked to read and consider the main conditions and limitations of home to school transport described in the Home to School Transport guidance.

Applications for next academic year made after the May deadline:
Sorry but you have missed the home to school transport application deadline for September. As you have missed the deadline there could be a long delay in letting you know the outcome of your application. In this case, even if your child is entitled to free transport, it is unlikely that transport will be in place for September.
You will receive an update email, with a link to your Citizen Portal message area, as soon as possible.
In the meantime you are responsible, at your own expense, for your child's transport to and from school.
